Under 11 XI vs. Brockhampton - 14 May - Excellent all round performance to kick off the season for U11s

Canon Frome won the toss and invited Brockhampton to bat on a drying wicket. They coped very well from the outset putting on 22 in the first 4 overs. Some fast bowling from James kept the brakes on to an extent, and a direct hit of the wicket from Keilan with a super throw from the boundary pegged back the score a little. Jenson bowled an excellent delivery to remove the wicket of a very capable Brock batter. Henry got a run out and after the third pair Brock were on 270. In the final over Toby clean bowled the Brock no 9. Some excellent fielding from Holly, Ellie, Archie and Bertie and great work behind the stumps from Harry. Brock ended on 320; clearly a formidable target.
Keilan and Jenson opened the batting for Canon Frome and faced some very quick bowling from the Brock skipper James. Second up were James and Holly. Just one wicket lost to an excellent stumping in their 4 overs. Then came Bertie and Harry. Some entertaining running between the wickets added some useful singles to the total. Archie and Toby did a great job with Toby hitting 2 boundaries in his session at the crease. Finally came Henry and Ellie. They did a great job taking the final score to 224 without any further loss of wickets. So a loss by 96 runs but Just 5 wickets lost and a net positive score; that exceeded my expectations. Many thanks to Lee for sorting the team and the teas, to Neil for the excellent scoring, to our supporters and special thanks to Catherine for the delicious bacon rolls. Everyone gets a bacon sarnie down the Frome. Well done to Brock. Worthy winners. Great umpiring from Brock’s John; very much in the spirit of cricket.
