First XI vs. Burghill & Tillington - 19 Jul - Not enough runs for Frome!

Canon Frome went into this game knowing they should have won the first fixture between the pair earlier in the season.

Frome lost the toss and were put into bat with L.Watkins (0) went early and when Fortnam (4), D.Watkins (1) P.Andrews (5) all fell in quick succession Frome were tottering on the brink of an embarrassingly early finish. Rogers (61) rode his luck being dropped several times and when M.Backhouse (6) & N.Andrews (4) fell to a stunning catch behind Frome were again up against it with 6 down bringing Chris Styles to the crease. Rogers was being worked over by the impressive Kiwi Hedges playing and missing at more balls than not and when Styles (14) was at the crease there was a chance of setting a challenging total. He fell and then so did Rogers leaving Morgan (20) and the tail to leave Frome well short on 138 all out.

Frome went out in the field knowing quick wickets were the order of the day and in the 2nd over Matt Morgan had an edge from Hedges dropped at backward point by the diving Rogers. He drove one just short of Fortnam at short cover and then the very next ball it went hard at him which he snaffled brilliantly. Kingsley Morris was brilliantly run out by 13 year old leg spinner Stevie Wilson and when Morgan bowled Walsh, Frome were in the game. Styles had Preece stumped but that was the last wicket they took when the impressive Oliver & Biggs finished the game for Burghill with 4 wickets down.
