First XI vs. Old Vigorians HL - 23 Aug - Frome fall short yet again

Canon Frome were visited by Old Vigorians who needed maximum points to continue there push for promotion while Frome were trying to work there way up from lower-mid-table.

OV's won the toss and decided to bat and From started well again with Louis Watkins once again the pick of the bowlers taking (3-41) with old timer Chris Styles being wheeled up the hill for 18-4-57-3 in another superb spell of bowling. The 2 of them could have been more successful if Max Backhouse keeping wicket hadn't tied his shoe laces together with a few chances going begging! Morgan again was very impressive taking 3 for 22 form his 8 overs with Neil Andrews borrowing Chris Styles wheelchair to bowl 6 overs for 11 runs. Frome could have restricted OV's to a lot less but under the circumstances 165 all out in 50 overs wasn't a bad total to be chasing.

Frome set off in usual style to get the target with James Fortnam (18) aggressive and Paul Andrews (1) & Louis Watkins (2) out early bringing Andy Rogers (17) to the crease but he won't up to the challenge presenting an easy caught and bowled. Neil Andrews looked good for 24 and only when Orgee (2) and Morgan came together did the total look attainable again. Morgan batted superbly finishing on 37 not out running out of partners with Frome 4 runs short, a run out between Alec Backhouse & Morgan's runner Rogers gave OV's the win.

Last game of the season next week with Frome looking to do the double over Ross.......
