Second XI vs. Stourbridge Social - 21 May - Frome lose away at Stourbridge

Frome batted first and opening was J. Hughes and C. Barnett with Barnett plundering boundaries early on to some loose bowling. Barnett(29)and Hughes(11) fell in the same over which bought M. Godsall and B. Child to the crease but child soon went for 8 leaving S. Andrews(40) and M. Godsall(20) to build a partnership. Things were going well until andrews decided he no longer needed his bat and abandoned it away mid-run, then got run out. This bought D. Child (29) to the crease to teach the junior Child a lesson in batting by thrashing quick runs to all corners of the ground. Frome managed to get 175 off their 45 overs, bringing much needed batting points.

Opening the bowling B. Child took a wicket in the first over. This brought what would be fair to say a superior batsmen to the crease, who made short work of hitting big boundaries scoring 86 quickly. L. Cotterall (2-18) was the only bowler to really cause him problems. B. Child had another chance offered to S. Andrews (captain) who wilted like a thirsty daisy on a hot summers day and dropped the chance.

Unlucky frome outclassed by one player, lets wait for the return fixture.
