Under 11 XI vs. Brockhampton - 13 Jul - Played well - More runs required ?

Brockhampton u11 vs Canon Frome u11 Sunday 13-07-2014
On first inspection the wicket looked a hard fast pitch with a faster looking outfield despite the early morning rain and CF were put in to bat. CF got off to a shaky start by losing 4 wickets in 25 balls by some good bowling and indifferent shot selections. Lasting 20 overs looked slim but slowly Ben W, Charlie and Marcus steadied the ship with the help of the many wide balls bowled by Brock. CF started to build a score and when Ben W departed in the 9th over the score was 48 for 6. The new batsman Allan W came to join Marcus at the crease and they picked up the odd run and boundary over the next couple of overs but a change of bowler was to Allan’s liking and he started dispatching the ball to different corners of the ground with shots of power and precision. He retired on 30 runs with a couple of overs to go after a seventh wicket stand of 74 with Marcus. “Very well done boys”. Ronan came in and carried on and hit a couple of fours and finished up with 9 along with Marcus on 12 both not out. CF finished with a total of 129 for 6 off 20 overs.
Sam B – 0, Joe D – 0, George H – 4, Ben W – 7, Will B – 0, Charlie C – 7, Marcus – 12*, Allan W – 30*, Ronan – 9*
In reply to the CF total the Brockhampton batsmen played our first four bowlers well and looked to take quick singles where they could just keep up with the required run rate. After eight overs Brock were on 45/1 compared to CF on 48/5. Both Joe and Ronan got a wicket each bowling out two Brock batsmen. However the next three Brock men knocked off the remaining runs without losing another wicket and finished on 132/3 off 16.3 overs.
There was some good fielding and bowling throughout their innings and again we bowled fewer wides than Brock did.
