Under 15 XI vs. Colwall - 23 May - First match - First win - beating Colwall by 102 for 6 against 93 for 7

It was a beautiful sunny evening down at the Frome ground as we played hosts to Colwall. We lost the toss but were put in to bat which would have been our choice anyway had we won.
Our opening pair of captain Olly Parker and Harry Booth played a perfect openers game easing themselves in and tiring out the bowlers whilst all the time keeping the scoreboard ticking over.
In the end Olly Parker was top scorer on 16 runs with Harry on 11.
Arthur Harris had a blistering game too scoring 15 runs himself and taking two wickets plus a catch. Talking of catches Tom Davies took a very good one off Arthurs bowling and Ben Day contributed to the win by giving it his all running and stopping fours that were to prove so important.
We thought we had posted a decent score with 102 and at first we looked comfortable for a win but as the overs ticked by for Colwall they slowly crept up until on the final over the Colwall scorer Ben called out that they needed 3 Fours off this over. Not an impossible task.
Captain Olly Parker threw the ball to Sam Booth who hadn’t yet bowled a ball to bowl the difficult final ‘Ben Stokes’ over and the pressure was on. We needn’t have worried as Sam went for just 6 runs taking 2 wickets into the bargain caught and bowled. Our first match and our first win. Wickets taken by the following bowlers Olly Parker, Tom Day, Jasper Gilbert, Arthur Harris 2, Sam Booth 2.
A fine performance from the whole team both at the crease and in the field. Well Done.
However, its not all about the cricket as we know and the tea provided by Ali Gilbert, Lynda Bridges and Ruth Ashman - who didn’t even have Rylan playing – was phenomenal. Amazing tucker – thank you.
Thanks must go to Paul Cresswell who umpired and coached the boys and girls on the night as well as Sally Booth for scoring. Finally, thanks to Colwall for being great opponents and for helping with the washing up.
