Under 11 XI vs. Colwall - 17 Jul - A game played in a great spirit and, finally, in some sunshine!

Great day at Colwall today for the U11 game. Canon Frome team: Henry, Jenson, Alex, Ollie, Bertie, Gabriella, Grace, Harry and Jack. This was our first “proper” hard ball game, so the pressure was on; when you're out you're out!
Canon Frome won the toss and chose to field. Colwall showed intent from the outset and start piling on the runs but Canon Frome took their chances with wickets for Bertie, Jenson, Harry and Henry, and what a great catch by Jack! Super fielding by Ollie, Grace, Gabs and Alex. Nonetheless, Colwall posted a formidable total of 182 that was always going to be a big ask!
After tea and biscuits, Frome openers Henry and Jenson started well. Jenson was unlucky to be caught after striking the ball hard and in came Alex who built a 38 run partnership with Henry. Ollie and Bertie faced some accurate quick bowling, defending very well. Likewise; Gabriella. Gracie took the score into the 70s with 6 from one ball; a four from a no ball! The innings closed with Harry and Jack. Jack was not about to hang about hitting his first delivery for 4, and Harry was not out at the close. So we ended on a very creditable 79 runs. A well-deserved win for Colwall. A game played in a great spirit and finally in some sunshine.
