First XI vs. Barnards Green - 14 Jul - Win a toss .... but to no avail

With the inevitable damp wicket , Andy finally managed to win his first toss of the season and had no hesitation in fieling first . The BG openers got off to a decent start , pushing the score up to 44 before Styler and Andy grabbed three wickets for no further score . BG then had a couple of steady partnerships which nudged them up to and past three figures but with Louis , Andy and Nell each grabbing a wicket , the home side stood on 119 for 6 with 11 overs left . Two further wickets fell to Paul during the final overs but the home side improved their position to end on 178 for 8 .
Our reply got off to a bad start as Dan was bowled by his 5th ball for 0 but Styler and Dave built a solid platform for the 2nd wicket with a stand of 48 before Styler fell . Nell joined Dave and took the total up to 76 at which point we undertook an England style collapse as 76 for 2 became 98 for 9 with some shoddy batting , Dave excepted whose innings of 40 spanned 104 minutes , application the style of which the rest of us could have done with following . Louis and Badge took us past three figures but we were all out for 113 with 13 overs still remaining .
