Under 13 XI vs. Eastnor - 20 Jun - Friendly at home with Colwall replaces Eastnor fixture

CCFC won the toss and elected to bat. The U13s trialled a few new players in tonight's friendly and
our openers of Ronan and Harrison made a quick start and raced to 40 in four overs and were
looking good until Ronan was caught behind off his gloves. A few quick wickets then fell cheaply
to some indifferent bowling by Colwall and shot selection on our part, some of our newcomers stuck
in and held their ends up but runs were becoming hard to get but with some seasoned players at the
end we hope to post a reasonable score. CF stuck to the task and after their 20 overs posted 102 runs.
Our seasoned bowlers for their part mostly bowled a good line and length and the Colwall batsmen
were able to score runs off good balls bowled and use the speed of the bowls to aid the scoring and
high praise must go to both Bertie Butcher and Dominic Arnold (wicket maiden) who bowled very
well on their first but not last game for the U13s. Again CF gifted some runs in misfields and
overthrows but all these can be worked on in training. In the end Colwall reached 103 runs in the
19th over despite some quick bowling from Sam B putting the fear of God into their young faces.
Thanks to the parents for helping out and Kay for arranging the Team and Teas and a special thanks
to Mark G for mowing a pitch at extremely short notice and the disruption to what work he had
planned last night.
Many thanks
Paul C
