Second XI vs. Tenbury - 05 May - Close Start for New Skipper

For the second week running the away side won the toss and invited Canon Frome to bat. Following some tight bowling and the loss of openers Charlie Barnett and Dan Watkins Canon Frome's middle order began to show some form. An excellent 45 from Matt Morgan supported by Max Backhouse who reached 25 before being run unluckily out helped to home team to a respectable 189 all out. The total looked defendable on a slow pitch however Tenbury's opener Kevin Morris stuck doggedly to his task of seeing off the opening pair of Cotterell and Frost.

Some good fielding meant that the finish was always going to be tight however a quick fire 40 from O Tyler put Canon Frome on the backfoot and despite rotating the bowling to include spells from Backhouse, Barnett,Cotterell,Morgan and Frost the required breakthrough didn't come quickly enough.

The game hinged on the last over with Tenbury striking the 8 of the last over to win by 3 wickets. This really was a very tight and hard fought game played in great spirit and enthusiasm. This first game augers well for the home teams future games in division 4 South of the Worcester league.
