Second XI vs. Worcester Dominies - 26 May - Captains should toss more often!

Winning the toss clearly isn't going to happen this year. This is the conclusion of Andy Rogers and David Child both of whom have lost the toss on every occasion this year.

This game started positively with openers Charlie Barnett and David Child scoring freely in the initial exchanges. After 9 overs Frome has reached 36 before Child was caught off S Miles. Charlie took the attack to Dominess before retiring injured having pulled a ball into his face despite wearing a helmet! (Charlie adjusted his helmet that morning but failed to measure the gap between the grill and the helmet peak!) . We suspect Charlie wont make the same mistake again.

Good contributions from Andrew Potter (39) and Max Backhouse (26) took the score to a very respectable total with the final score being 159.One of the highlights of the game came as Daniel Hills batting at number 9 who hit a straight drive for four of his one and only delivery. A truly great shot in the circumstances.

Faced with what was a reasonable score on a green wicked Canon Frome opened with MR C and Max Backhouse. Despite the best efforts of the opening bowlers M Miles clubbed his way to an unbeaten 89 having been dropped on 10.Miles was assisted by a young M Reece who supported Miles admirable making 39 before being dismissed by an excellent catch from Andrew Potter off the bowling of Ben Child.

Despite using 8 bowlers Frome could only manage the one wicket with the game ending after 26 overs with Frome picking up batting 2 points.

Other points of note were G Humphries taking 4 for 58 off his 13 overs and Charlie Barnett who very bravely and despite having 3 serious cuts to the head resumed batting in an attempt to help the Frome cause. Well-done Charlie.
