First XI vs. Old Vigorians HL - 21 Jun - Frome's dropped chances cost them again!

Canon Frome went into the game again looking for an important victory to get their season back on track. They travelled to Old Vigorians 2nd pitch on a wet and blustery day on the longest day of the year.

Frome won the toss and decided to bat with Fortnam (37) & Louis Watkins (17) getting them off to a solid start before Watkins was neatly caught at square leg and Paul Andrews (20) joined Fortnam at the crease. The score ticked on nicely until Fortnam was caught at cover and Rogers (4) followed soon after bringing young Backhouse to the crease. He batted superbly and made 90 before falling to a suicide run out!!! Morgan & Styles both made 13 and unfortunalty the innings pitted out with Richards being bowled off the last ball of the innings leaving from 225 all out.

Vigorians made a solid start again with the opener hitting shots all round the ground. Louis Watkins (1-38) again bowled superbly without luck but eventually got a wicket for his trouble. Matt Morgan (2-32) also bowled superbly getting a couple of wickets but the problems came with three catches being put down before the score went to 30. Dan Watkins bowled his leg spin and captured 4-21 to keep Frome in the game but eventually went down by 8 wickets after a total of 7 catches had been dropped.

Once again frome can only blame themselves for not finishing a game off and taking their chances.
