First XI vs. Barnards Green - 02 May - Morgan Debut Ton steers Frome to superb start!

Canon Frome started their league campaign off with a flyer against Barnards Green 3rds on Saturday. After a steady start Fortnam (47) got flowing with the patient Paul Andrews (21) but it was when they had reached 76-3 that Rogers (41) and Neil Andrews (22) started to take the attack to the Worcester Team. Once they had departed From could have been facing a bit of trouble at 155-5 but Louis Watkins (37) along with Matt Morgan played very sensibly and batted Frome into a very strong position. Matt Morgan then went on to complete his maiden century for the club and finished 107 not out in Frome's impressive total of 312.

Frome then set about the task of bowling out Barnards Green and after a patient start it took a run out and catch from Rogers in the 16th over to break the deadlock. Wickets flowed steadily with Louis Watkins continuing his superb form from last season taking 4 for 16 in 12 overs and young spinner Stevie Wilson doing the damage at the other with 4-52.

A superb start from Frome who will be looking to make a real impression on this years league.
