First XI vs. Tenbury - 30 Apr - Tough away game to start off league season

On a hot day, Canon Frome chose to bat first on what seemed to be a very good batting track. The opening bowlers from Tenbury made life for the Canon Frome top and middle order very challenging with pace, swing and movement off the pitch making it very hard to score. The pressure from this eventually told with wickets falling at regular intervals (the top score from the top 7 being only 16 from Fortnam). As the ball grow older and softer, the lower order of Canon Frome were able to get some time at the crease while getting runs, with Styles (28), D. Wilson (25) and S. Wilson (39) batting very well to get Frome up to a hard earned 184.
(Runs: Andrews 8, N.Evans 11, Fortnam 16, Rogers 12, Baldwin 8, Morgan 4, J.Evans 4, Styles 28, D.Wilson 25, S.Wilson 39, Lloyd 0*)

An equally good start from the Canon Frome bowlers compared with Tenbury's saw an early wicket fall off the bowling of Baldwin and Tenbury only managing to get up to 21 off 9 overs. From there as the shine of the new ball wore off, the batsman found it easy to score boundaries across the lightning fast outfield. A superb innings from B. Mason of Tenbury (113) made light work of the Canon Frome total with the loss of just 2 wickets.
(Wickets: Baldwin 1, J.Evans 1)
