First XI vs. Barnards Green - 18 Jun - Rain strikes again as Frome lose

On a damp day, Frome lost (another) toss and were put into bat on a damp track.
The opening partnership of Andrews and Styles got off to a steady start putting on 45 against the new ball, Styles fell for 25 after some good swing bowling from Cullity built pressure. The in form Andrews went shortly after for 20, Fortnam then fell for a golden duck off Lewis. S.Wilson and Backhouse seemed to have a decent partnership going before Backhouse (9) was brilliantly caught at mid on. Morgan then came to the crease and him and Wilson looked in good touch as he brought up a good half century, the 70 partnership ended as Wilson tried one big shot too many. Morgan (34) fell shortly after leaving frome 160 for 6. Evans (43) and D.Wilson (57) then had a superb 107 partnership with some brilliant clean hitting which brought Canon Frome to a very defendable 267 on a tricky wicket. Due to rain, the Barnards Green innings was reduced to 39 overs.

The Barnards Green innings got off to a flying start as D.Wilson's first over went for 24, and after Morgan had to leave after bowling 3 overs 1 for 18, Frome were yet again made to field with 10 players. The big hitting continued as Alamatu hit 87 off just 45 balls before departing after a brilliant catch from Tompkins on the boundary. Barnards Green moved on to 185 off 20 overs and despite the efforts of the Frome bowling attack, boundaries were far too easy to come across on a small pitch while missing a fielder. Frome rallied at the end to cut down the Barnards Green flow of runs as Evans bowled a very good second spell and deservedly got a wicket. The big hitting early on had done the damage though as Barnards Green got across the target of 264 losing 5 wickets.
