First XI vs. Himley - 09 Jul - Batting not up to scratch

On a very damp track, away to Himley. Frome chose to bowl first to take advantage of the wet conditions.

The Himley opening partnership got them off to a flyer with one of them smashing a quick 70 before finally being caught at third man by a tumbling Kit Smith. After that partnership was broken the Himley batting line up collapsed horribly from 120-0 off 20 overs and creeping to 192-9 off 50 overs.
Wickets for Morgan, Lloyd and Smith

The Frome innings got off to a decent start with Andrews and Backhouse looking reasonably solid at the top of the innings with a 30 opening partnership. Backhouse fell after a ball stopped on the wet track causing him to chip it back for a simple caught and bowled. Fortnam then ticked the scoreboard over with a few 4's before a superb in swinging yorker found its way through his defence (even though the bowler shouldnt have been bowling). Wilson and Andrews fell soon after as the moving ball was causing problems as a good delivery caught the outside edge. From there the Himley bowlers continued to use the huge swinging (which was surprising due to no overhead cloud and the wet outfield/track....) ball and managed to get through the middle of order of Frome quite easily before Lloyd and D. Wilson were able to put up a decent last wicket stand which gave Canon Frome a hint of hope before Lloyd chopped on.
