Second XI vs. Himbleton (Friendly) - 24 Apr - Comfortable-ish win for Frome

Himbleton won the toss and chose to bat first on what looked like a decent batting track.

C. Cottrell and D. Wilson opened up the bowling for Canon Frome both starting very well with good lines and length on what turned out to be a slow and low batting track. They both got early rewards for there efforts with good catches taken from Godsall and S. Wilson. C. Cottrell then picked up a LBW to end with very tidy figures for his spell. L. Cottrell and Hughes took over from the openers and carried on there good work, both picking up wickets while keeping down the Himbleton runs. A brief cameo from 1 Himbleton batsman was the best that they could muster up against a good bowling performance from Frome. He was the first to fall in a devastating over from N. Andrews who managed to pick up 3 wickets from his 1 over. A mix up from the Himbleton batsman ended the innings with a run out.
(Wickets: C. Cottrell 2, D. Wilson 1, J. Hughes 1, L. Cottrell 1, N. Andrews 3, Run Outs 2)

The Canon Frome innings got off to a poor start with the early wickets of S. Cottrell, M. Godsall, J. Godsall, S. Andrews all falling in the early overs against a very good opening bowling partnership from Himbleton. A good partnership from Hughes and S. Wilson saw Frome up to 70 before a very good innings from Wilson ended getting stumped for 19, Hughes followed shortly but not before getting Frome within touching distance of the 81 required to win. P. Andrews (4*) hit the boundary that got Canon Frome over the line and for a very impressive victory.

Overall, a superb performance against a strong Himbleton line-up
