Under 9 XI vs. Bromyard, Bartestree & Hay - 01 Jul - Undefeated u9's roll on!

Canon Frome U9 continued their unbeaten record this season with two wins today against Bartestree A and B teams.  Whilst Canon Frome were the stronger teams in both games there was still a need for concentration with the bat and ball. The running between the wickets was much improved with good calling and we had no run outs in either game.
In the first game CFCC batted first and notched up a par score with the relatively short boundaries of 276.  Sam Booth was top scorer with 20 but good all other players contributed runs.  so that was Marcus, Ben Day, William B, Charlie, Henry A and Ben Webb.  Bartestree were always behind the run rate despite gettting off to a good start. Accurate bowing from David and William taking 2 wickets each reduced Bartestree's total to 230.
Match two was more one sided in Canon Frome's favour.  Bartestree scored 223 with Sam taking 2 early wickets. Ben Webb took and excellent caught and bowled and Ben Day got the catch of the day off leg spinner Henry Avery.  Marcus took a wicket in the penultimate over with David T finishing on a maden.  So it only required sensible defensive batting from Canon Frome to win the game....but the boys were having none of that.  it was a run fest with the team ending up on 325 with massive hitting from David T and Henry Avery both clearing the boundary rope for the  "maximums". Both ended up on 24 runs each.  Again great batting from all other players with Marcus, Sam, Ben D  Ben W scoring 4s.

Great  performances but I sense we will have to lift our game even higher to maintain that 100% record next week.  Many thanks to all those who helped out today including Andy Rogers who prepared the pitches, Mrs Badger,  Mark Webb who produced amazing cakes, Sian T and Andy Booth....and too all our supporters.
