First XI vs. Stourbridge - 04 Aug - Frome smash 3 wins out of 3

Frome went out with a changed team again including controversial selections policy with Lloydy re-selecting himself!!!!

He did however win the toss and chose to bat with Mark Godsall opening with Jacob James (the 2nd most chilled person on the pitch) and they set off at.....a jog! They got Frome going in the showers (!) and after coming off the first time Jacob missed a good one and when the rain came the covers went on and after much bodging and badgering they were water tight!!! Almost with someone on bucket emptying duty!

Early tea was taken with Elkingtons array of mis-shapen sandwiches and a few cries of "it tastes better than it looks!"

When they went out again Frome put the pressure on, Fortz caressing the ball like only he can, Mark going about his business with a little care and some attention. Fortz was finally caught off the leg spinner tight under the hedge wih some questions asked about whether he was in the hedge!

Andy Rogers came to the wicket with thoughts of keeping the ball on the floor....just a thought and started where he left off he week before. Mark finally managed to edge one through the the keeper and Nicko popped one up to point leaving Frome needing to settle again before building a formidable total. Pete came out swinging the bat like he wanted to get back in for a 2nd sitting of tea and duly obliged by popping the ball to cover, who incidentally dropped it but as Pete was already most of the way back to the dressing room they ran him out instead!

Simon fancied a bat and joined Andy at the middle as they pushed the score on to just under 200 before Simon paddled one around the corner only to be caught. Captain Lloydy promoted to number 8 and joined the party. Rogers finally out for 88 but Lloyd, Ben C & Badger carried on the good work to post a solid 263 - 8.

Frome went straight out to field and pushed them back with Nicko trundling down the hill with Lloydy flopping up the hill. Wickets fell at regular intervals with Frome fielding well. Some magic moments though were soon to unfold:

* Badger with a magnificent running catch. Some say he was like a bird of prey circling, some say it was text book technique - either way it was brilliant!!!!

* Lloydy ran around from mid-off to extra cover, picked up one handed and threw down 1 stump to remove their blocker in the way of 24pts

* Understated Fortz - another short leg catch (although not as good as 2 weeks ago) still a fantastic catch.

* Simon - 2 solid catches behind the stumps to take the last 2 wickets.

Frome weren't denyed the maximum points with a fantastic all round performance - 3 on the bounce. If 4 on the bounce Nicko has promised to do a little party trick with a bottle of wine!!!!

After 3 home games Frome at home again next week.
