First XI vs. Old Elizabethans - 25 Aug - Frome up to 4th with strong finish to the season

Frome completed their penultimate game with a comfortable victory by 145 runs. After winning the toss Frome elected to bat and found themselves 2 down quickly and when Fortnam and Nicko fell cheaply once again Frome were 50-4 and under pressure. Rogers and Elkington steadied the ship in the only way they know how by hitting boundaries!

They put the bowlers under pressure and Elkington bashed a fantastic 50 while the home side struggled for ideas. Rogers and Elkington took the scoring rate up to over 6 an over and after getting to 200 within 35 overs they looked on target for their highest score of the season. Rogers reached his first century of the season after falling short in the last few innings and after Elkington and Hope fell Lloydy joined Rogers. Rogers fell for 132 and left Lloydy to take up the attack - he did and finished on 61 not out, his highest league score. Frome then declared on 304-7 off 46 overs giving them 54 overs to bowl OE's out.

They started slowly in the field with OE's starting positively. Frome though took wickets regularly with OE's giving chance after chance. Ben & Lloydy bowled tidily again and Luke's deceptive spin got him another 4 wickets. When Frome struggled they called upon James "Tredwell" Hughes who managed 2 wickets in 2 balls and left Frome leaving a final wicket to win. Nicko Evans rolled up again to take his first wicket and to give a crushing victory by 145 runs.
