First XI vs. Stone - 11 May - 14 points..but just one wicket away from the max 24

With skipper Lloydy at another Stag doo (always the stag and never the groom..) it was again down to Badge Richards to lead out the Frome. With a stong batting line up on paper he elected to bat on winning the toss. Seemed a good idea at the time but on 89 for 6 after 19 overs situation was not looking good. More quality shots from Fortnam who finished on 38 but it took the lower order (just as well we brought one) this week to take the score to a reasonably respectible (under the circs) 172 for 9.

Thanks to Simon Cottrell for consuming some pies for his 35 N.O. and well done to the Godsall lads, Will and James for seeing us through the alloted overs.

Stone were not looking over confident from the outset and lost an early wicket but their skipper Jammie Batsford played well for his 54 before falling to Nicko Evans who was formidable, finishing on 12 overs 5 maidens 3 for 20. Simon C behind the stumps will be investing in some new glove inners if Nicko plays again. Good work as ever too from Luke C and James Hughes. Stone clung on finishing on 161 for 9 denying Frome the max 24 points. Good fun though and decent beer at their local. Will skipper Lloydy make it back into the team next week.. or has he got another wedding to go too ?
