First XI vs. Highley - 18 May - Last ball thriller in a cricketing cliche packed day

Let's get to the last line first. Last ball- scores tied on 164 and James Godsall facing Highley's best bowler of the day- Bethall, who ended on 3 for 27 off 11 overs....Simon Cottrell all set for a quick single ...Bethal puts down a quick delivery..down leg slide... low and fast.. through the keepers legs and a bye sees the Frome to 24 points.. end of.

With Badger sent back to the ranks, Captain Lloydy continued the rich seam of failure, losing the toss and being asked to bowl.

Nicko not quite as on fire as last week although and excellent second spell took him to 12 overs 3 for 21. Lloydy deserved more than a single wicket but Dave Wilson was the pick of the bowlers taking important wickets giving away very little and ending on 12 overs 4 for 28.

On this big pitch and a variable outfield 164 was certainly below par. Badge and Mark G opened and found it heavy going at first. Badge spent too long at the crease for his 6, Mark did a superb job anchoring the innings for a long while ending on 45.. Middle order never quite got started until Lloydy came in and pushed the rate back on target.. with 11 required off 3 overs Lloydy thought he would make it more exciting for all and padded out a maiden. Simon Cottrell played without care for his averages with some useful shots..Lloydy played very well in the fading light for his 31 but lost his wicket in the final over... and so back to that first line; Happy Days... Frome still not yet firing on all cylinders but a good win. No game next week. Please turn up and help prep the pitch for 1st June. our first home game at the Frome.
