Under 9 XI vs. Burghill - 30 Jun - .. But cricket was the real winner today

Great fun today as Burghill hosted the Frome for a one off friendly. Burghill added three players to Fromes 9 for a 12 a side 24 over game. Frome batted first and piled on the runs and lost just one wicket in the process. Amounting well over 300. Burgill were behind the run rate relatively early and with the loss of some wickets through accurate bowling , good catching and sharp fielding came up short of the total. It was great work from all the Frome team so let me mention them all: Marcus R. A great opening performance with some big boundaries and a good job captaining the team. Henry R also performed well with the bat protecting his wicket, Robbie W bowled very well taking a double wicket maiden in his first over. Rowen bowled accurately showing real improvement after a morning in the garden nets. Likewise Millie was powerful with the bat despite having some challenging balls to cope with. Charlie played the shot of the day with a lovely cover drive and was formidable behind the stumps with his catching. Ben W had a good all round performance including an excellent throw from distance to secure a run out . Bertie B was particularly impressive in his first game. He gave the day 10 out of 10. Finally George H. Reliable as ever with bat and ball taking a clean bowled wicket in his opening over and very economical in his second. Special thanks to Phil for umpiring the first innings.
