First XI vs. Cutnall Green - 10 May - That's 2 out of 2 Wins for the Frome

With so much weather about it was questionable if there would be a game completed. Questions too if would be started… with Cutnall Green perhaps having misjudged the distance to farthest Herefordshire. Game did finally get underway albeit with Cutnall light on numbers. Skipper Lloydy won the toss and inevitably put Cutnall in on the damp conditions and with the win/lose system in use for the first half of the season giving 20 points max for a win regardless of who bats first.
James Hughes ( Tredders) struck first with an excellent delivery moving off the seam and edged by the Cutnall Skipper to Mark Godsall at second slip or thereabouts. Really excellent take. Tredders then took out the other opener intent on playing across the line with a well-pitched up delivery; clean bowled. There was some resistance later in the innings from the Saleem brothers ending on 29 and 27 respectively. Tredders was back in the action with an excellent run out and there were 3 v tidy catches from Lloydy, delivering wickets for Ben C., Luke C and Will (I am) G. Badge was happy for coming after taking a skyer at deepish mid-on, taking Will G to two wickets on the day.

So with some extras thrown in Frome were set a total of 105 to win. No nerves, but not considered a done deal. Tea was a taken and it can be confirmed that Jess set the standard for Egg sandwiches for the season. . Only thing missing was the tea itself. Urn malfunction. Sorry about that.
A good start from Mark G and Simon C but with the ball slow to come on it was always going to be tricky to get it away. Cutnall openers Harris and Saleem were useful and kept scoring down. Mark finally went for 12 with a thick top edge. Hopey took a big stride down and promptly top edged one to slip soon after arriving. In came Ben C and nerves (which had begun to make a late appearance) were calmed. An excellent un beaten innings of 30 that included a sublime cover drive that motored over the extended tump side boundary for 4. Simon was finally coaxed into giving up his wicket putting one up for mid on but not before accumulating 38 very useful runs. Lloydy joined the party taking Frome to victory in the 25th over. So down to the Trumpet for 6 ish. Job done
