Under 13 XI vs. Brockhampton - 06 May - A tough start to the season

Canon Frome faced a tough fixture for their first match of the season and batted first against some accurate and fast bowling. Losing only 5 wickets in their innings they managed to compile 61 runs with Harry Booth opening the batting and top scoring with 15. It was good to see the batsmen looking for the singles and turning some ones into twos with good running.
Defending a low score meant some accurate bowling was required and the first two bowlers set the tone restricting Brock to only 14 from the first four overs and taking two wickets. Arthur Harris demonstrated a new found ability to bowl accurate off spin from around the wicket and the Brock players only managed a single scoring shot from his bowling in the two overs he bowled. Five of the bowlers took a wicket with John Watkins taking one on his debut for Canon Frome. The fielding was much improved over last season with a lot of energy and Ollie Parker taking two fantastic catches out in the deep. On his wicket keeping debut for the U13's Marcus Richards kept wicket excellently with some nice tidy takes and conceded only one bye during the innings. Unfortunately Brock proved to be too strong and went on to win the match scoring 62-5 in 12 overs.
