Under 13 XI vs. Eastnor - 27 May - A great result for the U13s

A great result for Canon Frome U13s this week and an excellent performance all round including good concentration in the field. Our opening pair; Harry Booth (c) and Tom Day set the tone - both having to be retired on 33 and 30 respectively - well done boys! Then Arthur Harris continued the theme with 10 not out off 17 balls. Finally, Eastnor took their first wicket with the very last ball of the innings against Lewis to leave us 128 for 1 - a very respectable score but one that would need to be defended with accurate bowling and good fielding. Which is exactly what we did. Tom, Harry, Arthur, John and Ollie all took wickets from their bowling. John Watkins only gave away 4 runs off 2 overs and took a wicket into the bargain. Really tight stuff all round. Our batting and bowling is really improving and so is our fielding.
Talking of fielding, Ollie's good fielding created a run out, Tom took a catch as did Will Brandreth. The figures below attest to the fact that everyone played their part: Jaimie bowling 2 overs for just 3 runs and Jasper 3 overs for just 4 runs. Sylvie only gave away 8 runs with her overs with Marcus busy honing his craft behind the wickets. A great performance all round restricting the opposition to just 57 runs off their twenty overs!
It was good to finally get to play again and to get an opportunity to sample Kay's home baking. A marvellous spread provided by our new U13 team manager. Thanks to Phil for sterling work umpiring and to Sally who once again stepped up to the plate to handle the scoring - this time aided by an App! With any luck the fact that our new scoring method involves using an iPad may result in some boys (and Dads?) coming forward to score games in the future!
