Under 11 XI vs. Wormelow - 28 Jun - win by one wicket... phew.. that was close

CF won the toss and asked Wormelow to bat first. Wormelow made steady progress through their 20 overs with help from their twelfth man “extras” (40*) to set a score of 95 for 5. During their innings CF held on to the catches which they offered, With George H the pick of the catches showing 100 percent concentration take the catch while slipping over and receiving a heavy bang to the head. The following player taking wickets; Will B, Ben W, Allan W and Sam B.
In reply to their 95, CF made hard work of knocking off these runs with some poor shot selection and give away there wickets cheaply. Ben Day got in and was looking good for a big score when he was dropped by the bowler, only to be acrobatically caught in the slips one handed the next ball for 11. Sam came in to join Charlie and again he got in and again was looking good for another big score but got suckered by the only straight ball in the over to be bowled for 8. Charlie Kept his concentration throughout and was lucky more than once to still be at the crease, he plugged away picking off the bowling to retire on 32 not out and when the last wicket fell. He had to return to the crease to help Ben W knock off the remaining runs to end on 38 not out. A very hard fought match.
This result keeps us in the hunt for our first division title, currently on equal points with Brockhampton but not as favourites. Every game now to the end of the season is a cup final and the last game at home to Brock could be all ticket.
There is no game this weekend, enjoy the lie in.
