CF lost the toss and was asked to bat, not our favoured option but on a hard fast pitch boundaries came quickly by some mixed bowling from our host’s. All players looked to have got themselves in and scoring runs but then got themselves out with some poor shot selections. With every over the boys started to grow in confidence keeping the scoring rate high. After ten overs CF were on 79 and kept going to finish on 159 for 6 in 20 overs. Every player hit at least one boundary during their innings and the pick of the batting was Ben Day having to retire not out on 31 this left the way clear for Harrison and Jasper to play two cracking innings batting out the last five overs to take the score from 115/6 through to 159 an excellent partnership of 44, Harrison 10 and Jasper 25 both not out, our best batting performance of the season.
Having nine players to field on the on Brock’s fast out field was going to hard for the boy’s but they all stepped up a and fielded and bowled out of their skin. However Brock started well and after 5 overs they were up with the run rate. Then our bowlers produced a great spell of accurate bowling keeping brock’s batsmen to taking singles and they quickly fell behind the run rate and ending up on 87/ 5 with George H bowling 3 overs including 2 maidens. Harrison taking 1 for 4 off 2 overs, Ronan 2 overs for 6 runs, Jasper 2 overs for 5 runs and Sam 3 overs for 5 runs taking 2 wickets and with only giving 17 runs away in wides an outstanding bowling performance to follow the batting.
By far the best performance during my coaching time, well done boys you deserve it for all your effort.
