Under 9 XI vs. Burghill, Tillington & Weobley - 29 May - Creditable peformance but BTW were too strong for the Frome

Gorgeous morning down at the Frome for this second home game in a row for the U9s. expectations were high following the win last week. Being a holiday weekend there were several regulars unavailable so opening up opportunity for some new comers who did themselves proud.
BTW brought along a couple of extra players who were quickly recruited to the Frome to make up 11 players per side. An additional Harry saw 35% of the Canon from team being called Harry; to add to the demands on the scorers.

Captain Harry W. won the toss for the Frome and put BTW into bat. BTW made a steady start and kept on going throughout. AJ coming to the crease at the mid point. confidently taking guard and proceeded to knock the ball to all points of the compass. He scored 40+ in his 4 overs. BTW piled on the runs, although Edward pulled them back with an excellent caught and bowled and further wicket. Harry B also got a clean bowled. BTW ended on 343 so always going to be a challenge.
Frome openers Rory and Harry did a super job against some very fast bowling. Second pair of Harry W and James took the score back to 198. Rosie and Archie played very correctly with Rosie scoring her first run in a proper game. Bertie then was joined by a Harry ( no4) and also Jo and took the total to 229. Finally Harry B and Edward closed out the innings compiling a very respectable total of 251. we lost some 8 wickets which come at a high cost in pairs cricket. but BTW were the clear winners and what a good bunch the were. thanks to Lee Richards for admin help and all the parents supporters and helpers on the day.
